How many times have I walked by these vacant buildings, never bothering to stop and look inside? What an incredible treat to find the Save Canvas art installation still housed inside, crumbling slowly along with the structures themselves.

  1. I like this, I don’t know anything about it and don’t have a copy of the magazine, so will have to learn about this photo. Glad to learn something new.

    1. You can click on the Downtown Journal link or the Save Canvas link to read more about it online. Such a cool idea – basically a condo project kicked everyone out of these buildings then the economy fell apart and now the buildings are sitting vacant in the middle of downtown, literally falling apart. So this guy, Joe Belk, came up with the idea to do an art installation inside the vacant buildings. It was technically only a weekend-long installation but they left everything set up inside for anyone who stops to peek inside.

  2. oooh i love this! i’m loving ‘bird stuff’ more and more so this fits it. sorry to hear about the demise….
