I always suspected that poinsettia flowers weren’t actually flowers. Turns out, they’re not. The red and white sections are just modified leaves. Do you suppose that an ordinary green leaf, like this one, might be secretly aspiring to something grand, like one day turning scarlet?

  1. How educational your project has been. I think I knew that about this plant, but certainly not about all flowers, interesting. Nice shot!

  2. What a fantastic close up of leaf detail. Evolutionarily speaking, all flowers on all angiosperms are modified leaves or stems. šŸ™‚
