On my snowy stroll around the neighborhood, it was clear WHY things like fire hydrants and stop signs (and brake lights) are red. Like cardinals on a snow-covered branch, the blazing scarlet hue could not go unnoticed.
Being a bit color-starved on this mid-winter’s day – I’ll take what I can get.
Just when I thought the red in winter had to come from cardinals, there it is. I will look at the stop sign by my house differently now.
There are other sources in nature, too – like the dried sumac I noticed the other day. It’s good to go on a color hunt this time of year!
