The new dark gray deck stain provided a perfect backdrop for my exotic visitor. This long-haired wonder hung out on the railing most of the day, giving me the perfect thing to shoot while the 2nd coat dried.

As parents, we all have our strengths and weaknesses. I’m sure we all dwell on what needs improvement. But it’s a tough job and I think most of us do the best we can. Which is why it’s good to also recognize the things we do best.
For me, one thing I know we’ve done right as parents is nurture Sawyer & Zola’s love & enthusiasm for the outdoors; they may suffer from messy room syndrome but they will never come down with nature deficit disorder!

We were seeking the warmth of tropical air inside the Conservatory, the heady perfume of the sunken garden, and the comforting scent of damp soil. But then the polar bears drew us in with the sheer exuberance of their icy swimming and the joyous clouds of steamy breath rising into the arctic air.
