junco?

Fortunately Brad and I were having a bird ID dispute on the deck. We just put up the feeder and, while we were at the cabin, the birds discovered it.

Brad claimed they were juncos. I didn’t believe him so I took a really bad picture on his phone. It turned out to be the only shot of the day.

You will notice that there are NO birds in THIS picture. But I’m still happy. I salvaged something and managed to NOT miss a day taking a picture. In spite of myself.

fellow artists

I am amazed by the creations of others. Those who draw, paint, dance, write. All of it, really, because creativity and craft are at heart of all these endeavors.

Human beings are certainly not the only artists on earth. The things birds & spiders weave are particularly compelling,  intricate, and aesthetically beyond compare.

walk on the wild side

We froze our butts off on our walk yesterday but seeing this guy made it all worth while. He was a perfect subject, regarded us with plenty of curiosity, and let me get up nice & close. I love encountering my wild neighbors right here in the city.
