One of my favorite discoveries of the last 365 project was the beauty and variety of plants in their winter form. I’ve been looking forward to re-visiting this subject – always something more to see.
21/265: wild coneflower seed heads, broken
These blossoms continue to hold my attention. As they mature, the seeds progress up the cone until it is completely clothed.

This year, the wild coneflower was so ecstatic for the sun, it grew taller than me. No one told the plant it couldn’t reach such heights, so it just kept growing. That’s the thing about potential; the full extent is unfathomable until it’s reached.
